Madrid, 13th of July

Diana Capital, the private equity firm specialising in investments in Spanish mid market companies, has announced that its portfolio company Lappí Labels and Flexible Packaging (Lappí Group), a Seville based manufacturer of labels, printing solutions and flexible packaging, has acquired 100% of Alempack, a Portuguese company specialising in the production of flexible packaging for the food industry.

Following the integration of Alempack, Lappí Group will reach EUR 70 million in revenue, representing an increase of 15%, while strengthening its position in the Iberian market for labelling and flexible packaging. The transaction also reinforces the group’s industrial platform within the European packaging sector.

Following completion of the acquisition, Lappí will comprise six companies, seven manufacturing facilities and more than 390 employees across Spain and Portugal. Alempack, which employs more than 40 people, will enable the group to double its flexible packaging business, generate commercial and procurement synergies, expand its manufacturing capacity and strengthen its presence in Portugal. In addition, its industrial footprint will increase from 51,000 to almost 60,000 square metres.

Founded in 1999 and based in Elvas, Portugal, Alempack manufactures a wide range of flexible packaging solutions, including printed reel films, thermoforming films, skin films, doypacks, vacuum bags, shrink bags and high barrier packaging. The company operates from a recently expanded 4,500 square metre production facility, incorporating printing, laminating, bag manufacturing, warehousing, quality control laboratories and office space. Alempack has an established customer base across Portugal and Spain and has made significant investments in recent years to expand its production capacity and modernise its manufacturing equipment.

New strategic acquisition

The integration of Alempack represents the third investment made by Diana Capital III FCR, the third private equity fund managed by Diana Capital. The transaction forms part of the inorganic growth strategy pursued by Lappí in recent years. Following the acquisition of Gráfica Calipolense in 2019 and the integration of the Portuguese companies CPM and Penta in 2023, the Seville based company continues to expand its geographical footprint, production capacity and product offering in the labels and flexible packaging sector. The acquisition of CPM and Penta in 2023 enabled the group to double in size while strengthening its presence in both Spain and Portugal.

Founded more than four decades ago and currently managed by the second and third generations of the founding family, Lappí Group has developed an integrated industrial platform combining the manufacture of self adhesive labels, wrap around labels, sleeves and flexible packaging solutions for sectors including food, beverages, hygiene and fast moving consumer goods. Through a combination of organic growth, continuous investment in technology and an ambitious acquisition strategy, Lappí has established itself as the market leader across the Iberian Peninsula.
